Founder, The AfroLiterary
Titi Kushimo
Ibadan, Nigeria
Titi Kushimo is a writer, media professional, fashion enthusiast and storyteller with a bias for social harmony, peace and development. She is the founder of The AfroLiterary, a creative ecosystem nurturing identity, building community and promoting social harmony through African culture, storytelling and borderless conversations.
From Sinmirella to The AfroLiterary
This journey towards The AfroLiterary started with a penchant for fashion, poetry and literature. The passion needed a home, so she blended the first two syllables of her other name, Sinmiloluwa, with the last two syllables of the famous fairytale character, Cinderella, and called it Sinmirella. Through Sinmirella, Titi documented clothing and creative expressions that celebrate African heritage and identity. Leaning into her media and development experience alongside an academic intervention, this interest grew into a bigger purpose.
After obtaining her master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Titi found a renewed sense of purpose and decided it was necessary to find ways of making peaceful coexistence, identity and human development more accessible to everyday people. She looked inward and asked herself:
“What if fashion, music, literature and storytelling could become instruments for promoting meaningful conversations and social harmony?”
This birthed Nigeria’s first AfroLiterary Fashion Concert.
Through The AfroLiterary, Titi Kushimo is committed to a simple but enduring conviction: creativity can do more than entertain. It can open conversations, create opportunities, nurture confidence and build more peaceful communities.
